The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) invites all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students interested in the American Revolution to participate in the Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest. The contest is open to public school, parochial, home schooled, Scouting, or Children of the American Revolution member students in that same grade range. Young artists with an enthusiasm toward art, a love of American history, or a passion in creative expression can submit their posters to their local SAR chapter for competition.
The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) invites all high school students (9th through 12th grades) interested in the American Revolution to participate in the George S. & Stella M. Knight Essay Contest. The contest is open to all US Citizen and Legal Resident students attending home schools, public, parochial, or private high schools in that same grade range.
To participate, students must submit an original 800- to 1,200-word essay based on an event, person, philosophy or ideal associated with the American Revolution, Declaration of Independence, or the framing of the United States Constitution. Each student’s essay will be judged based upon its historical accuracy, clarity, organization, grammar and spelling, and documentation.
The Yosemite Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, is dedicated to honoring the legacy of our Founding Fathers and fostering a deep appreciation for the principles that shaped our nation. In addition to our Poster and Essay Contests, we proudly offer in-person assemblies designed to bring the spirit of the American Revolution to life.
Through engaging presentations and interactive discussions, students and community members can explore the causes of the Revolution, the trials of colonial life, the sacrifices of the soldiers who fought for independence, and the enduring strength of our Constitution. These assemblies serve as a powerful reminder that the freedoms we cherish today were won through courage, perseverance, and an unyielding commitment to liberty.
By educating future generations on the ideals and struggles that forged our great nation, we ensure that the legacy of those who secured America’s independence remains alive and thriving. Join us as we celebrate history, honor patriotism, and inspire a deeper understanding of the founding principles that continue to guide our country today.
